Stay Seated: Taiwan’s Way of Making Sure You Catch Every Scene

If you have ever watched a Marvel movie in the cinema, you probably know that there is usually a little surprise waiting after the credits. These so-called post-credits scenes have become a Marvel trademark, often giving fans a hint of what is coming next in the superhero saga. But not everyone knows this the first time around.

In Taiwan, it used to be the same. A few years back, I remember going to see a Marvel movie. As soon as the credits rolled, people started standing up, stretching, and heading for the exit. I stayed in my seat, unsure if there would be something extra. When I got home, I saw online that there was indeed a post-credits scene I had completely missed. It felt like I had left the party too early.

It seems this happened to a lot of people here. We are a pretty internet-savvy crowd, so word travels fast. And over time, Taiwanese movie theaters started to do something very thoughtful to make sure no one missed out again.

Now, when you go to watch a movie in Taiwan that is known for having post-credits scenes, like Marvel or some other blockbuster, the theaters will put up a message on the screen after the main film ends. It simply says, “There is a post-credits scene,” or “Stay until the very end.” This friendly reminder has become a little tradition, and it feels like the cinema is looking out for you, making sure you get the full experience.

And that’s not all. The theater staff will even keep the lights shut before the post-credits scene. This way, the audience knows for sure that the movie is not actually finished and there is still a little more magic waiting to unfold. It is such a small detail, but it really shows how much people here care about giving everyone the best viewing experience possible.

I think this small gesture says a lot about Taiwan’s movie-going culture. We are big fans of these little surprises, and we do not want anyone to miss them. It is not just about catching every last minute of a film; it is about sharing that excitement together. Plus, it is always a fun reward for the patient moviegoer, like a secret handshake for those who know to wait.

So, if you find yourself in Taiwan and you’re off to watch a big movie, don’t be in a rush to leave when the credits start rolling. Sit back, relax, and see what little treat is waiting at the end.
